Temporary Residence

A temporary resident is a foreign national who is legally authorised to enter Canada for temporary purposes when they have been found to meet the requirements of the legislation to enter and/or remain in Canada as a visitor, student, worker, or temporary resident permit holder. 

There are several temporary resident application types and temporary residents are subject to various conditions, such as the length of their stay in Canada and what they are allowed to do while in Canada.

In general, applicants will have to:

  • Fill in the forms specific to the chosen program

  • Submit the requested supporting documents

  • Provide biometrics

  • Complete a medical examination, if applicable

  • Provide police certificates, if applicable

  • Pay the government application fees 

  • Demonstre sufficient funds to settle down, if applicable
